Join Capital City Public Charter School 4th graders on our journey to learn all about the Earth under our feet.

We have created a series of fact sheets and short films to invite you into our learning. Click on the links to learn more!

Rock Climbing

We are a dedicated community of geologists based at Capital City Public Charter School in Washington DC. During fall 2016, we conducted work to learn about general geological processes along the Fall Line of the DC area, including Rock Creek Park.

To kick off our exploration of the geological features of this region, students went rock climbing on the sheer cliffs of Carderock, MD on the Potomac River.

Infographics

To help us build background knowledge on geology, we created a series of infographics on everything from the layers of the Earth to plate tectonics. To view and download our collection for your own use, please click here.

Stop Motion Animation

We created a series of short films to educate others on the wonders of geology. Topics range from plate tectonics to the rock cycle to volcanoes and everything in between. Using a variety of materials, we used stop-motion animation to bring these processes to life.
